Two Canadians — Mattea Roach and Caitlin Hayes — are set to face off on Monday night’s Jeopardy!

For nine-time “Jeopardy!” champion Mattea Roach, Monday night will either be her 10th straight win or a loss to one of her opponents, fellow Canadian contestant Caitlin Hayes.

Hayes is a musician, educator and mother from North Vancouver, B.C. She’s joining Monday night’s game and facing off against 23-year-old Roach, who’s on a winning streak, and Sarah McGrath, a contestant from New York.

Hayes can expect some stiff competition from Roach.

Roach, a Toronto tutor originally from Nova Scotia, won the popular TV quiz show on Friday night, marking her ninth win.

Her current total from her wins are $210,802 (USD). In a previous interview with the Star, Roach described her penchant for remembering things and her ability to focus in high-pressure situations.

“I almost feel as though, inadvertently, everything that I’ve done in my life has in some way contributed to me being able to be successful at ‘Jeopardy!’ ” she told the Star’s Alex McKeen recently.

Roach will appear again on the quiz show regardless of Monday’s outcome as she qualifies for the Tournament of Champions against two other long-term winners, 38-game champ Matt Amodio and 40-day winner Amy Schneider.
