Canada Oil Sands Innovation Alliance searching for new CEO

The Canada Oil Sands Innovation Alliance is searching for a new CEO after announcing Dan Wicklum will vacate the post next month after seven years with the organization.

The consortium of energy companies that share technologies and advancements to improve environmental performance in the oilsands was established in 2012. Wicklum, who will depart Feb. 15, has been with the organization since its inception.

Under his leadership, COSIA members’ projects have produced 981 technologies valued at $1.4 billion, it said.

In a statement, Wicklum said COSIA recently completed a strategic plan that will “accelerate innovation in key areas and step up its communications efforts.”

“The proposed plan is intended to chart the course for the next five years, which provides an excellent opportunity for me to leave the organization on extremely solid footing and gives me the opportunity to pursue other interests,” he said.

A former Canadian Football League player with the Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Wicklum held positions with Environment Canada and Natural Resources Canada before joining COSIA.
