CALGARY – The City of Calgary has lifted its state of local emergency.
The measure was put in place Monday to allow the city to deal with potential flooding related to heavy rainfall in Alberta.
It was kept in place as the city monitored another storm in the forecast.
Mayor Jyoti Gondek says the weather system is now expected to stay south of the city.
Preparations for potential flooding in Calgary this week included the closure of Memorial Drive, a major east-west roadway along the river, to build a temporary berm to protect communities to the north.
Gondek says the berm will be removed by Monday morning.
